Children's Care
Care for Breathing and Allergies
Your child does not seem to be breathing normally. How do you know if it’s asthma, allergies or another breathing disorder? Our specialists can help.
Our pediatric pulmonologist specializes in childhood breathing disorders. He and his team work with children from infancy to college age to diagnose the cause of the problem and find the best treatment. They help many local athletes with asthma compete at the highest level.
Among the many conditions the team diagnoses and treats are:
- asthma and other breathing disorders
- cystic fibrosis. Affiliated with The Children’s Hospital
of Philadelphia, our program is the only one in the region recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
- babies born prematurely with chronic lung diseases like bronchopulmonary dysplasia or other breathing disorders
- terminally ill children with breathing disorders
- children who need home life-support systems such as a ventilator
Care for Allergies
If your child is sneezing, coughing, has itchy, watery eyes or other cold-like symptoms, he could have allergies. They are very common in children. Many things can trigger allergies, including pollens and plants, molds and pets. “Seasonal” allergies occur at specific times of the year when certain plants are in bloom.
Our pediatric allergists can test your child to find out what’s causing the allergic reaction and then find out how to prevent or treat his symptoms.
